Yes, many of us have similar thoughts; however, though we're not alone in a predicament, we are on our own in dealing with it. There are many factors—the platform and how it caters to survive- probably the most significant reason. Whether they're worthy of going viral or not, my writing interests aren't going to be the stuff that keeps Medium afloat. You're not the kind that sells one's soul or gives up her power, so what can you do to make a splash in this social media ocean? So much of it, including Medium content, is redundant noise. I think the algorithm favors those with more followers. The more, the better. But it's probably best to filter the writers whose noise isn't aligned with one's interests. Then it's a matter of staying true to one's self.
