In the early seventies when digital electronics started to take off commercially I worked on music hardware applications that could change pitch without altering speed. We literally had our chip supplier giving us the latest manufacturing samples on a weekly basis. We'd plug them into our breadboard until they finally came up with converters fast enough to do the job. Now look at what were doing! Amazing.
