The so-called quality guidelines for further distribution are an ambiguous hoax. The algorithm that makes those decisions is geared toward cash flow. Medium supports writers that already have big names or put out content that reads like self-help or sensational social media. The vast majority of writers pay the writing minority and the platform's management. Christine, excellent poetry such as yours isn't being supported by the platform. Success for the unsupported is measured by the love of writing and by the kind people who respond to what little distribution the algorithm provides. Unfortunately, I think Elizabeth is right about where our dollars go. Mediums membership is dwindling because people get tired of being used. Personally, I don't care about money. Writing is my therapy, and I enjoy the interaction, but the lack of platform distribution bothers me tremendously.
