When is Hope Enough?

When is Hope Enough – Hybrid Image Generated with DreamStudio

There is hope in our warmth
while the home fire burns bright.
All snug
watching soft Autumn snow
drift through soothing moonlight.
Lady and I sing November’s cradlesong
while babies curl up to meet our gaze.
Then a good night kiss
and a wish of sweet dreams
this Eve of Thanksgiving Day.

Yet, in every city
down to every neighborhood
there are living stories hoping
and dying to be heard.
Where anyone can be a savior
while we all need
help along our way
but brotherhood is still
an unsettled frontier
this Eve of Thanksgiving Day.

Could we ever
come together
even on Thanksgiving Day?
Together
would we weather
the most bitter
winter wind?
Well, what we’ll reap tomorrow
is all we’ll sow today.
If a harvest comes
by loving someone
any day becomes Thanksgiving Day.
