Poetic Lament

Wishing I’d been taught differently

Why did you send me
to buildings dedicated
to the dictates of craft?
Could you not teach
to plunge beneath
the mere obvious fact?
To study, then convey
your lessons from
outside false boundaries.
Where imagination lays
in wait perhaps to soothe
a poet’s quandaries.

Now dissecting thoughts and emotions, pinning words, then commentary to the facets, curating and sharing them as legends of my being. Then they’re on their own.
