“Hi,” I said –
No doubt, out of the blue from the recipient’s perspective. I stood awkwardly, numb, and over-focused, imagining I framed myself as a moth in the throws of a transient journey toward an alluring flame.
Seconds elapsed as snapshots; in one, I captured a hint of the air my voice had set in motion. In the next, that air appeared to have swirled about to sift secretly through a lock of silky brown hair resting on her subtle earlobe.
In the presence of her stature, it felt as if I’d be perceived and chastised as a comedic bobblehead, the consequences for creating what was beginning to feel like an uncomfortable cartoon episode.
