Many people, including myself, sometimes say it's unfair that we can't choose the family we are born into. It's usually because of the domestic violence and emotional abuse they suffer. Generations pass down this behavior. It's why the known domestic violence rate in America continues to be 30%. In addition, we have problems with clan behavior, where the family is expected to stick together with the elders in charge. It ruins autonomy.
As always, this is a well-crafted story. The horror is absolute.
