Commenting helps me feel relevant and caring. Often, I say something in a comment that becomes part of a published piece. It's all part of my writing process. How the platform counts, weighs, and, in general, uses them is not essential to me. For now, anyway. Nevertheless, it's a great question. It helps to sort out why we're here.
