Fast forward to the present, and I announced my retirement in September 2023. I needed a plan, things to keep me actively engaged. I've always enjoyed writing and focused on song lyrics until 2019, when I challenged myself to be more open. Now it's poetry, prose, and short narrative stories. Coincidentally, the pandemic fostered that effort when practically everyone I knew switched to working and staying at home. Suddenly, I was more accessible to my inner voice. Believe it or not, I became aware of my backyard and the neighborhood, and began to realize that, despite being an integral, equal part of nature, I need to work on being more equitable.
